On March 27th, the Coral Gables City Commission approved the submission of an application to Miami-Dade County for the potential annexation of High Pines/Ponce-Davis into the City of Coral Gables.
The City conducted two community meetings in the area since April 2017 to share information with community residents and obtain a preliminary impression of their interest in becoming part of the City Beautiful. Coral Gables received 651 signed petitions, or 27.3% of all voters from High Pines/Ponce-Davis, supporting the annexation. For the entire area, 60% of responding registered voters support annexation.
The County will now review the annexation application, and if favorable, a referendum on annexation will be held among registered voters of High Pines/Ponce-Davis, who will ultimately decide whether to be part of Coral Gables.
